How to Prevent Spread of COVID-19
There are many steps and precautions that can be put into place in order to stop the
spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The absolute best way to prevent its spreading is to
completely avoid being exposed to it at all. This, however, is very difficult to execute flawlessly.
Studies done recently have shown that even those who do not exhibit symptoms of this virus
can also be infected, making it easier to spread from person-to-person. In light of this
information, there are other ways to protect yourself against spreading.
To prevent person-to-person spread, you should practice social distancing, maintaining
a distance of at least 6 feet from another person. Facial masks should also be worn, as droplets
can be transported from one person to another through coughing, sneezing, and even speaking.
Wearing a facial mask will help protect against these droplets, and both people, whether they
have the virus or not, should wear the mask due to the fact that droplets can even be
transferred to another simply by inhaling them into the lungs.
COVID-19 can also be spread through making contact with objects or surfaces that are
contaminated. If someone touches the surface of an object that has been touched by someone
with the virus, and they proceed to touch their mouth, nose, or eyes, the virus could be
transmitted to them. To protect against this, you can clean frequently touched surfaces
regularly. You can also wash your hands often with soap and water, making sure you wash
them for at least 20 seconds. If you do not have soap and water, you can use antibacterial
hand-wipes or alcohol-based hand rubs with at least 70% alcohol.
Because this virus spreads so quickly and easily, it is highly recommended to follow
some of these steps and precautions in order to protect yourself as well as those around you.
